Who is BDO

Find out more about BDO and BDO International as well as some of the really cool things that make our staff happy to be working at BDO!

WHO IS BDO

International

BDO in New Zealand is part of BDO International, the fifth largest accountancy network in the world, founded in 1963. The acronym BDO stands for the three founding member firms’ original names Binder Hamlyn (UK), Dijker & Co (Holland) and Otte & Co (Germany).

BDO comprises over 44,000 people, in over 1000 offices in more than 110 countries

National

  • The New Zealand network began in 1935 and today is the largest association of independently owned accounting practices in the country.
  •  We have 14 offices throughout the country, from Kerikeri to Invercargill
  • We employ over 600 people nationally (including 70 partners)
  • Our diverse client base ranges from growth-oriented owner-managed businesses with international requirements, not-for-profits and institutions to large privately owned companies. But our specialty is New Zealand’s mid-market sector and we pride ourselves on being the largest provider of services to these businesses which drive our nation’s economy.

Our point of difference

In a marketplace that typically provides two types of accounting firms - the large scale global provider, or the smaller relationship-driven local firm, BDO provides a real and sensible alternative.  BDO provides the best of both worlds with the reach and resources of a global player and a relationship that matters.
